Presets FAQ

What are presets?

I use Adobe Lightroom to edit my Instagram photos. Presets are a set of pre-saved settings that I have fine-tuned to achieve my signature look in one click using Lightroom. This helps me save time when editing new pictures and it can help you get the same look without spending months on learning everything from scratch.

I'm new to Lightroom, can I still use your presets?

Absolutely! In fact, our presets are designed especially to help those with little editing knowledge to achieve a look similar to ours.

What’s the difference between Desktop and Mobile presets?

There are two versions of the Lightroom editing software – a Desktop software and a Mobile app. The Desktop version is what I use most of the time – it is a powerful program that gives you a lot of control but you need to pay a subscription fee (around $10/month) to download and use it. The Mobile Lightroom app is free and you can download it from the app store. Desktop presets don’t work with the mobile app and vice versa. That’s why I offer my presets in both versions.

What camera and lens do I use?

I have a Sony A7 Mark III and a Sony16-35mm f/4 and 70-200mm G f/4 master lens. I have also DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone and Gopro Hero 8 BLACK for underwater pictures.

Do these presets fit my style?

If you take a look at my Instagram feed you’ll notice most of my pictures were taken in direct sunlight during the day and contain a lot of blue skies, sandy beaches and turquoise-colored water. I also have the occasional colorful towns, jungle greens and sunsets. If you like to take pictures in the same style my presets would be great for you! But if you prefer to shoot at dusk, for example, or indoors or you’re not particularly fond of beaches, then they might not be the best fit.

Will I get the exact same look if I buy your presets?

There are many factors that will determine your "end" result, and some might be out of your control. For example, the ocean/sea can have a totally different color depending on where you are – in some places it looks more turquoise, in others it will be basically green. The sky can change colors based on the time of day you shoot, skin tones and hair colors can vary a lot, and everything can look completely different if you shoot in direct sunlight, in the shade or indoors. Your camera, lens and settings can affect things as well. But if you learn how to make a few basic adjustments, you can make these work as long as you are using a DSLR and shooting in RAW format.

What is the difference between RAW and JPEG? Will the presets work with both?

RAW and JPEG are two different file formats in which you can shoot pictures. Most professional cameras have the option to shoot in either one and you can set that in-camera. RAW files are basically an uncompressed image of all the light and color information your camera sensor captured a the time of shooting, which you can later edit in Lightroom to get the most of your shot. JPEG is processed and compressed at the time of shooting in-camera, which loses a lot of the information in favor of a smaller file size. You can convert a RAW picture into JPEG later but you can’t convert a JPEG to RAW.

I recommend you shoot and edit in RAW to get the most out of my presets but if you prefer to edit in JPEG, that’s still fine as long as you shoot with a good camera and have the full size files.
